Join the CAL Public Libraries Interest Group as we hear from two experts who will address these issues and answer your questions.
Laurie Kubitz, of the Technical Accessibility Program team in the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT), will provide a plain language overview of how to comply with state accessibility laws including statutory requirements and practical steps you can take to provide equitable library services to your community.
As the Colorado State Library’s Digital Experience Senior Consultant, Babi Hammond helps administer more than 60 websites for libraries and other organizations across Colorado. He will discuss some of the most common website accessibility problems he has encountered and ways to avoid them.

About the presenters
Laurie Kubitz is a Senior Accessibility Consultant and User Experience Designer who focuses on creating accessible, inclusive and user-friendly service experiences in the public sector. For the last five years, she has worked within the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, empowering state and local government service teams with the skills and knowledge they need to provide equitable access to critical government services.
Babi Hammond has worked on library websites for more than 10 years. He manages the State Library’s COLibraries website hosting program and has worked with numerous clients to find and fix accessibility issues, and to train staff in website accessibility and usability best practices.
