This 90-minute webinar, designed for library managers/supervisors, includes content about building and sustaining a healthy organizational culture that supports staff wellness and improves the library’s ability to carry out its mission in the community.
Participants will learn about healthy versus dysfunctional organizational cultures and their impact on staff well-being, productivity, and longevity, trauma-informed library leadership strategies, and useful approaches for maintaining a healthy workplace culture.
This webinar includes interactive and reflection-focused activities to enable participants to analyze their own library culture, identify their leadership-related strengths and challenges, and create a plan for advancing their library or team’s organizational culture.
About the presenter
Dr. Beth Wahler is a researcher, consultant, trainer, and scholar who studies public library staff and patron needs, trauma-informed librarianship, staff experiences of workplace violence and stress, staff readiness for social services in the library, library-based social work practicum placements, and other types of social work-informed public library interventions and collaborations. She works with libraries of all sizes, from small or rural libraries to urban libraries, as well as both individual and large statewide or regional library organizations to understand staff experiences and challenges, patron needs, and strategies for supporting libraries in the valuable services they provide.
